Dance

At the age of four my mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas and out of the blue I said tap shoes. Ever since I’ve been taking dance classes at The Dance Co. in Long Beach.

Instruction

Age 4-present: Taking dance classes at The Dance Co. in Long Beach. Instructors include: Morgan Lightholder, Deke Lightholder, Donna Blanchard and Melissa Kitano.

2002-05: Took advanced rhythm tap dance classes from Steve Zee.

Performing

1993: Performed as lead dancing pumpkin/clock child in the Cinderella ballet produced by the Pacific Northwest Ballet Company.

1994: Performed as lead dancing elf in the Disneyland Christmas Fantasy Parade.

Teaching

I started teaching dance by choreographing my own solo in fourth grade. I choreographed dances for younger dancers throughout middle school and high school.

In my freshman year of high school, I started assistant teaching beginning tap classes at The Dance Co.

At the age of 18 I started teaching tap dance classes on my own. I have taught dancers as young as 6 and as old as 60.

Right now I teach two classes at The Dance Co.: 11 a.m. Saturday beginning tap for 7-10 year-olds and noon Saturday beginning/intermediate tap for 10-12 year-olds.

In spring 2010 I was hired to choreograph a tap piece for the Advanced Dance Team at Millikan High School in Long Beach. The rhythm tap piece was called “White Sky.”
